I was asked to do my church’s website not long after I got in the business, back in 2003. Immanuel Lutheran is located in Crosby, Minnesota. The first rendition was OK, but largely forgettable. The second rendition, done in 2010 was pretty cool. I took a template called WP80 and swapped out various images. I think the site was really unique looking, by the time I got done and has served the church well.
Recently, I’ve felt pressure to upgrade the design, since some of the functionality didn’t really work for mobile. So I put it off as long as possible and now, with the coronavirus issue, I had the uninterrupted opportunity to do it.
The main add-ons to the new site, beyond better “responsitivity”, is adding the ability to pay online and online video church services. I used Visual Composer to add some of the wingdings on the home page. The theme Real Church came with a really klunky page builder, so I used a few items and then bailed for one of my favorite page builders: Visual Composer from WP Bakery. I really like DIVI also and have used that one on several sites.
So here is the latest rendition of the website for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
